This program is a school for K-12th grade youth who wish to learn basic reading, writing, conversation, and culture over a longer period of time in a fun, positive environment. 

 

Gakuen is structured similar to the public school system. The academic year runs from August to May and is divided into two semesters. Our school is held on Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm. Classes are held in person at the East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center. Level placement is skill based.

 

We are a strong community school fortunate to have collaboration from families, teachers, staff, and East San Gabriel Valley Japanese Community Center. Strong commitment from students and families is a must due to the extensiveness of this program. Commitment includes families providing volunteer service for Gakuen. It is through group collaboration that we are able to ensure the best possible experiences and outcomes for our students.
